One of the most genius tricks I’ve tried this year is to first ask AI how to better ask it how to do something, before I ask it to do something.
Slight tongue-twister, but it does sound simple, right? But this genius small shift in approach can lead to dramatically better results.
🧠 The GOAT-Move: Prompting the Prompt
Instead of jumping straight into a task like:
“Write a social media caption for a luxury apartment in Marbella.”
I first ask:
“How can I improve this prompt to get the most engaging and persuasive caption for a luxury apartment in Marbella?”
The AI might suggest adding:
- Target audience (e.g., digital nomads, retirees, investors)
- Unique features (e.g., sea views, smart home tech, rooftop pool)
- Tone (e.g., elegant, playful, urgent)
Then, I take that improved prompt and run it—and the results are almost always sharper, more relevant, and more creative.
🚀 Why This Works
AI is incredibly powerful, but like any tool, it performs best when given clear, detailed instructions. By using AI to help craft those instructions, you’re essentially unlocking a higher level of performance.
It’s like having a conversation with a strategist before you brief your creative team.
Try it yourself:
Next time you’re about to use AI for writing, research, or brainstorming, pause and ask:
“How can I improve this prompt to get the best possible result?”
You might be surprised at how much better your outcomes become
